APN granted port authorization to Shougang Hierro Perú S.A.A.

Located in San Nicolás Bay, district of Marcona, province of Nazca.

Shougang Hierro Perú S.A.A. is a mining company that exploits, processes and markets iron ore from its deposits located on the southern coast of Peru, approximately 530 kilometers from the city of Lima, in the district of Marcona, province of Nasca in the Ica Region, from where high grade concentrates are obtained for the production of mining products.

The National Port Authority (APN) granted the port authorization to Shougang Hierro Perú’s San Nicolás Port Terminal project “Nuevo Muelle de San Nicolás”. Through Board of Directors Resolution No. 0004-2023-APN-DIR, published in the official gazette El Peruano.

The norm specifies that the “San Nicolas Port Terminal of Shougang Hierro Peru S.A.A. – New San Nicolas Pier” project will be privately owned, private use, maritime location and of national scope, whose essential activity is specialized mining-industrial (solid and liquid bulk).

It also establishes that the works will be executed within three years and eight months and the project budget is US$246,985,325.79 excluding IGV, as specified in the Technical Work File, whose Definitive Port Technical Feasibility was approved by Resolution of Board of Directors Agreement No. 0035-2022-APN-DIR dated May 19, 2022.

“The present port authorization is effective for the duration of the validity of the authorization for the right to use the aquatic area granted by the General Directorate of Coast Guard and Coast Guard through Directorial Resolution No. 674-22-MGP/DICAPI of August 16, 2022,” the regulation specifies.

Likewise, the regulation states that this Resolution is communicated to the Ministry of Defense (Mindef), the General Directorate of Capitanías y Guardacostas (Dicapi), the Ministry of the Environment (Minam) and the Environmental Evaluation and Control Agency (OEFA); for their respective knowledge and purposes.

The regulation is signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Port Authority, Manuel Hinojosa López.
